Sculpting the Figure
Once the armature has been built, the doll artist will sculpt the doll using polymer clay. First the face will be sculpted. Once the tin foil head has been covered with clay, the artist will build on features such as eyes, nose, lips and ears. The head is fixed to the rest of the armature figure and the artist will sculpt the neck, the chest and also sculpt arms, legs, hand and feet.
Finishing the Doll
To finish off the doll, the doll's features will need to be painted. The doll maker will use an acrylic wash first to create a more realistic skin tone, and then colors the lips, and the cheeks with acrylic paint. With a fine brush, the artist will paint eyebrows, and finally paint the iris,When the doll has been sculpted, the artist will fire the polymer clay doll in the ceramic killn.
